At its January 21, 2026 Annual Meeting, the Fund for a Better Waterfront’s (FBW) Board of Directors appointed Dini Ajmani to its Board of Directors.
From humble beginnings in a small town in India, she came to America earning a Masters in Computer Engineering from the University of Texas, Austin and later, an MBA from Stanford University. Dini worked her way up the ranks as one of the few women on a rough-and-tumble Wall Street trading floor.
For the past year, Dini has been a Senior Managing Director of Kepler Cannon working with financial service industries on opportunities related to capital markets. From 2021 to 2025, she served as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of the Treasury under President Joseph Biden. From 2018 to 2021, she was Assistant Treasurer for the State of New Jersey. Prior to that she served as a policy advisor to Phil Murphy during his successful campaign for Governor and as a legislative fellow for New Jersey Senator Cory Booker. She recently participated as a member of the transition team for New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill.
Dini and her husband of 37 years, Sonny Ajmani, have lived in Hoboken at their Hudson Street home with their two daughters, Hannah and Leah, visiting often. She has been very active in her Hoboken community serving on the Planning Board, running for mayor (unsuccessfully) and supporting a number of local organizations, including FBW.
